AeroPress

The AeroPress is a modern, versatile brewer known for its portability, quick brew time, and clean yet bold flavor. Invented in 2005, it combines immersion brewing (like French press) with gentle pressure (like espresso), making it a favorite among travelers and specialty coffee enthusiasts.

How it Works

Equipment Needed
AeroPress, paper or metal filter, kettle, stirrer, and timer.

Grind Size
Medium-fine, slightly finer than drip, but not as fine as espresso.

Setup
Place a filter in the cap and rinse with hot water. Assemble the AeroPress in either the standard (upright) or inverted (upside-down) position.

Coffee & Water Ratio
Around 14–18g of coffee per 200–250ml water, depending on preference.

Brewing
Add coffee grounds, pour in hot water (175–205°F / 80–96°C), stir for even saturation.

Steep
Let the coffee steep for 1–2 minutes (depending on recipe).

Press
Insert the plunger and press down slowly over 20–30 seconds.

Serve
Enjoy as is for a bold cup, or dilute with hot water for an Americano-style brew.

The Result

1
Flavor
Smooth, clean, and concentrated, often with low bitterness.
2
